2. Test your favourite colours<\/h3>\r\nNarrow your choices down to a few, then buy some tester pots to decide which colour you like best. Instead of painting the walls like many people do, paint a big sheet of card. \r\n\r\nThen lay out your flooring, fabric and other colours you have together so you can see how everything works. With listed buildings, different parts of the property may be protected. For example, sometimes the entire building is under protection. In other cases, it's only specific aspects like a fireplace or other feature. If you\u2019re not sure of which parts of your property have protection, speak to your local authority or conservation office. They will be able to advise you on which aspects of the building are under protection.\r\n\r\nThe best way to make sure you do not break the listed building regulations is to decorate in a similar style to the existing decor.
