There are no legal requirements for qualifications for aerial installers<\/a>. This means that tradespeople who install aerials<\/a> do not have to hold any accreditations or certifications. However, some installers will hold qualifications. These are a great way to give you confidence that the installer has the knowledge and skills to install your aerial to a high standard. High-quality aerial installations will last longer and give you great TV signal. Qualifications<\/h2>\n

There are several qualifications that aerial installers may hold. City and Guilds 2363<\/a> is a qualification which provides training in aerial installation. It covers health and safety for working at height, as well as digital signal knowledge. There are also NVQ qualifications available in aerial installation.<\/p>\n

In addition, there are specific qualifications for working at height. If your aerial installation is particularly high up, you may want to look for an installer who holds a qualification for working at height.<\/p>\n

Aerial installers do not have to hold these qualifications. Many good quality installers will not have them, especially if they started working before the qualifications became popular. Always ask to see examples of installers\u2019 recent work.<\/p>\n

Certifications<\/h2>\n

There are two licensing bodies which certify aerial installers. The Confederation of Aerial Industries<\/a> (CAI) is one of these bodies. They offer training and a product certification scheme. The CAI operates across the entire of the audio, video and data industry. They also certify cables and aerials.<\/p>\n

The other licensing body is the Registered Digital Installer Licencing Body<\/a> (RDI-LB). The RDI-LB offer certification to aerial installers. This means that these installers can describe themselves as Registered Digital Installers. It also means they can use the digital tick logo.<\/p>\n

Both of these licensing bodies assess their members to make sure that their skills and knowledge are up to scratch. This includes making sure that their installers meet British Standards as well as the licensing bodies’ own standards. They also check that their installers have the correct level of public liability insurance.<\/p>\n
