In an ideal world, your children would have a room each, but that’s not always possible. So we’ve put together 10 shared bedroom ideas to help your kids enjoy the time they spend sharing their bedroom together, and help keep you sane during the design process.
1. Involve the kids in the design
Children love to be involved in these things, so let them have their say. Plus you won’t have any arguments later on. Let them choose some pictures to hang on the walls or their own bed linen.
2. Give each child their own space
Whether it’s their own desk in the room or a separate space for them to put their toys and books, children will love having a little bit of space to call their own.
3. Consider bunk beds
Bunk beds are a favourite amongst kids as they’re a novelty, plus they get much more room to play. Just make sure your eldest is over 6, as that’s the recommended age for a child to have the top bunk.
4. Use all the space available
To make the most out of the bedroom, you could hire an architect to design it. They will ensure that all the space is used as well as making it look great. The bedroom above is a fantastic example.
5. Make sure you have enough storage space
This is probably one of the most important shared bedroom ideas. One child can make a lot of mess in a bedroom, let alone two or more. Make sure that there is a place for everything and encourage the children to put things back in their designated place when they’re finished with them. Honestly – it will work eventually.
