5 Things you can Chuck out of your Bedroom on Old Stuff Day

It’s Old Stuff Day on 2nd March, the day when you can be nostalgic about your old toys and trinkets from when you were a child. But it should also be a day for throwing out stuff that you really shouldn’t be holding onto any longer. Your bedroom is a great place to start, as there have been studies that suggest that cluttered and untidy bedrooms affect how you sleep.

So in honour of Old Stuff Day, we’ve come up with 5 things you can definitely chuck out of your bedroom without a second thought. Once you’ve done it, you’ll feel much better and you’ll be able to sleep easier at night.

Old electronics

If you’ve got old technology hanging around, get rid of it now. There’s no need to hold on to your first generation iPod or your broken TV that’s not worked for years. Often we put up with these things in our bedrooms because we don’t know where else to put them. But it would be better to call a waste removal company for larger electronics who will be able to dispose of them responsibly.

Old books

Are you really going to read War and Peace again? Probably not. If you’re holding on to books you’re never going to read again, and possibly books you’re never ever going to read, it’s time to let them go. Pass them on to friends who will enjoy them or give them to a charity shop.

Old bills

If you’ve paid your bills, there’s no need to keep them lying around your bedroom. File them away or shred them once you’ve paid them.

Magazines

If you’ve got lots of read magazines in your bedroom, recycle them now. You don’t need clutter in your bedroom as it can affect your sleep. A much tidier bedroom will make you feel better and sleep better.

Old pillows

If you’ve been using the same pillows for the past year, you should replace them. They can be a breeding ground for dust mites and bacteria, so it’s a good idea to change your pillows at least once a year.
