World Water Day is all about taking action to tackle the world’s water crisis. This could mean supporting efforts to make safe water available to those living in developing countries or tackling water waste.

1. Mould and mildew growth
Mould and mildew thrives off damp conditions. The cleanest home can develop mould and mildew growth if there are damp areas, so it’s usually a sign of moisture in your home. Even very small water leaks can cause mould and mildew growth as even a tiny amount of moisture can create the perfect environment for it to grow. So if you have mould and mildew growth there’s definitely moisture coming from somewhere – and this could be a water leak.
2. Warped flooring
Flooring can become warped if it’s exposed to and soaks up too much moisture. Warped flooring could be sign that you have a water leak then, and needs investigating to stop the problem getting worse.
3. Cracked walls or ceilings
Water can be extremely heavy in large quantities. If you have cracked walls or ceilings, this could be a sign of leaking water building up and causing damage to your property. Structural damage is extremely dangerous and should be fixed as soon as possible.
4. Damaged paint or wallpaper
Have you noticed you have blotchy, peeling or bubbly paint or wallpaper? This is a sign you have damp walls and could mean you have a water leak. To stop this damage quickly getting worse, call a plumber and ask them to investigate.
5. High water bills
A slightly high water bill probably isn’t a sign of a water leak; it’s more likely that you’ve just used a bit more water than normal. But if your water bill is significantly higher than normal, this could indicate that you have a water leak. 6. The sound of running water
Sometimes water leaks can’t be seen but they can be heard. The sound of water running or dripping is a tell-tale sign that you could have a water leak.
