Recently a large solar panel system in Los Angeles failed, with the protective coating disintegrating just two years into a 25-year life expectancy. On top of this two fires were caused, putting the system offline for 24 months, costing thousands of dollars in missed revenue. <\/p>\n

The beauty of solar panels is that they work to save you a small fortune. This is heavily compromised if you opt for cheap, low budget solar panels because the risks are huge. This report by the NY Times<\/a> shows how crucial it is to invest in a quality solar panel system, rather than save a little by opting to go for cheaper panels. <\/p>\n

The Los Angeles incident isn\u2019t an exception either and Dave Williams, Chief Executive of solar developer Dissigno, has seen a number of failures related to cheap solar panels. <\/p>\n

He told the NY Times<\/a>: \u201cI don\u2019t want to be alarmist, but I think quality poses a long-term threat. The quality across the board is harder to put your finger on now as materials in modules are changing every day and manufacturers are reluctant to share that information.\u201d<\/p>\n

If you\u2019re now sitting there worried about purchasing solar panels, don\u2019t be. Because following our advice and not going cheap will see you make a monumental saving. <\/p>\n

In the UK there is an accredited scheme to support the investment of solar known as MCS. Installers registered with the scheme must use tried and tested materials, with many products having lengthy guarantees too. <\/p>\n

What you need to remember though is that some companies will still offer cheaper solar panels, which don\u2019t have budget products. There is an opportunity to pick up a very good deal. <\/p>\n

If you want to start saving money and produce your own energy, then solar panels are for you. Make sure to compare prices from up to four companies who are MCS registered to get the most bang for your buck. <\/p>\n
