You\u2019ll be paying for the heat, but not feeling any of the benefits. Not exactly the most economical consideration. If you can\u2019t avoid placing furniture near a radiator, try to leave a gap of around six inches and you\u2019ll feel the difference in no time. <\/p>\n
Extractor fans are great for removing moisture in the air after you\u2019ve had a bath or shower. But they can do their job in just five minutes and help to prevent mould. If you\u2019re leaving the extractor fan on for longer than this then you\u2019re simply exposing yourself to cold air from outside. <\/p>\n
Insulation is the perfect way to lock more heat in your home and prevent it from escaping. After all, the last thing you want is to be paying out for heat and then have up to 50% of it lost due to poor insulation.<\/p>\n
So where can you benefit from extra insulation? Well, there are more areas than you would expect. Heat can escape your home through the roof, windows, walls, flooring and doors.<\/p>\n
Don\u2019t worry though because you needn\u2019t spend a fortune. Cheap insulation would start at boiler jackets and pipe insulation which can be purchased from any good DIY store. <\/p>\n
If you want to make greater savings then wall cavity insulation and loft lagging are the next steps. You can save several hundreds of pounds every year with either of these and payback is in as little as two years. <\/p>\n
