If you’ve recently cleared out your home, office or garage, you’ll no doubt have a lot of rubbish to get rid of. But what do you do with it?

You could take it to the local council tip yourself, recycle what you can or pay for a waste removal service. But there are some things that you should never do with your rubbish. Here are the top 5 things that you should never do with your rubbish.

Put your rubbish on the street

It might seem like a nice thing to do if you have an old sofa or another large item to put it on the street and label it ‘free’. Your council could consider it fly-tipping and they may fine you.

If your item is still in good working condition, plenty of charities will collect it from you for free. Or if it’s past its best, there are lots of recycling services that will dispose of it properly for you.

Fly-tipping

How do you feel when you walk or drive past a load of rubbish that’s been dumped on the side of a road? Perhaps an idyllic spot that people love to walk through? It’s not great, is it?

Never dump your waste anywhere that you shouldn’t. It’s called fly-tipping and you could be sent to Court and fined.

Have a bonfire

Bonfires are great around Guy Fawkes’ night, but you should think about having a bonfire in your back garden. Burning your normal household rubbish can cause pollution, and you neighbours might not be pleased either.

Always speak to your local council before starting a bonfire, and only ever burn organic waste if you really have to.

Bury your rubbish

Above all, never bury your household waste. You can cause harm to the environment and your council could fine you.

Now that we know how our waste affects the environment, we’re all trying to be more responsible with our rubbish. Some of the best things you can do for the environment are to follow these rules when you’re getting rid of waste.

If you need a waste removal service to help you dispose of your rubbish responsibly, we can help. Fill in your details below and we’ll put you in touch with up to 4 local waste removal companies.
