Renewable energy installers will now need to comply with new regulations to be Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS) registered. The MCS scheme is crucial for homeowners who want to earn the lucrative Government payments for their renewable technology, because the product and installer must be MCS certified. <\/p>\n
Now, installers will need to complete a compliance certificate for every single installation they carry out. These new rulings have come into place because of the Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) which launched in spring 2014.

There are some other new regulations to take note of as well if you\u2019re an installer, such as the mandatory labelling of solar thermal and heat pump installations. There is also a new solar thermal calculator methodology which is able to accurately predict energy savings of a particular installation. <\/p>\n
Each of the new regulations came into place in March of this year, with the new MCS certificate the biggest game changer. Essentially, the certificate will ensure products meet MCS standards, which is required before the RHI can be applied for. <\/p>\n
The certificate will be completed by the installer and handed out to the customer once the installation has been fully completed. Copies of this certificate are available on the MCS website. <\/p>\n
To crackdown on the competency of installers, MCS have also produced a new criteria for companies to follow if they wish to gain MCS accreditation. This initiative will focus on helping companies understand how to gain accreditation and improve their skills and knowledge at the same time. <\/p>\n
There\u2019s even a competency checker tool online, which is designed to help companies identify and fill gaps in their training procedures. <\/p>\n
Of course, the guidance also includes details on products eligible for the RHI payments under MCS policy. This includes installations needing to be meter ready so the Government can monitor the system if necessary. <\/p>\n
The Renewable Heat Incentive is one of the biggest incentives for homeowners to install renewable heat products in their home. Products include solar thermal, heat pumps and biomass boilers, with the potential to earn thousands of pounds on a yearly basis. <\/p>\n
