1. Close-coupled toilets
This is one of the most common toilet types. Close-coupled toilets have a visible cistern that is attached to the toilet bowl. This is opposed to more old-fashioned toilets, where the cistern is positioned high up and connected only by a pipe to the toilet bowl.
A big advantage to close-coupled toilets is that they’re compact. They can be a great choice if you have a small bathroom because they can fit into spaces that older toilet types can’t. They come in lots of different styles with both handle and button flushes, so you can pick a style that suits you. They’re also available in a range of prices and are fairly simple to install.
2. Back-to-wall toilets
A back-to-wall toilet is another option. This is where the toilet bowl sits on the floor and against the wall and the cistern is hidden within the wall. Any pipes are concealed along with the cistern, which can usually be accessed through a flush plate if it requires any maintenance.
Out of all the toilet types you can get, the back-to-wall toilet is another great space-saving solution. It takes up even less space than the close-coupled toilet, making it great for en suites and cloakrooms. Its neat, compact style means it particularly suits modern, minimalist bathrooms.
3. Wall-hung toilets
Wall-hung toilets look similar to back-to-wall toilets – they also usually have a concealed cistern. However, unlike other toilet types they don’t sit on the floor and are instead mounted on the wall. This means that they require a strong mounting frame, which is also concealed in the wall.
Like close-coupled and back-to-wall toilets, wall-hung toilets are great if you’ve got limited space. Plus, because they don’t touch the floor they can make your bathroom look bigger than it really is. They can look very stylish and are perfect for modern bathrooms.
