Parquet Flooring Costs

Parquet flooring

Parquet flooring is a type of wood flooring where small wood blocks or strips are installed together to create a distinctive design across the entirety of the floor. Parquet was traditionally installed with every individual strip painstakingly laid, but modern parquet can be purchased in bigger tiles or planks to provide the same effect. Parquet floor is a very fashionable flooring solution which is best suited for large rooms or hallways where the appealing design can be best exhibited. Parquet is available in a multitude of different styles, the most common of which are herringbone, chevron or checkerboard. Parquet can be manufactured from a massive range of different woods, but oak is the most common, accompanied by mahogany, maple and cherry. Modern parquet flooring may come in either solid wood or engineered wood types, the latter of which incorporate several sheets of wood with a fibre board core and a top layer of the desired appearance of hardwood.

Parquet flooring is durable and requires little maintenance. It is, however, inappropriate for areas that contain lots of moisture or humidity as the wood will warp or flex under these conditions. Parquet is often installed using a number of tiles which are glued to the subfloor with an adhesive. An experienced parquet floor company can recommend the most suitable wood types and patterns for your home.
