Deadline looming for ‘money off’ renewable voucher

Do you want to receive a money off voucher worth £2,300 for renewables?

Then you need to be quick because the Government’s funding scheme is set to expire on March 31. This gives you just two months to receive money off for producing your own energy.

There are a range of products that are covered under the scheme, including solar thermal panels and heat pumps, with the opportunity to save thousands of pounds.

And there are plenty of fantastic reasons to take advantage of the money off scheme. Not only will you save a small fortune on installation, but you’ll then be reducing those ever-expensive gas and electricity bills by generating your own heat.

On top of this, there’s the Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) scheme to consider too. From spring, any homeowner with renewable heat products will be paid for the energy they produce. This is equivalent to hundreds of pounds worth of earnings annually and is guaranteed for seven years.

How much is the grant worth?

  • A ground source heat pump: £2,300 grant
  • A biomass boiler: £2,000 grant
  • An air source heat pump: £1,300 grant
  • A Solar thermal panel system: £600 grant

Am I eligible for a grant?

If you live in England, Scotland or Wales you’ll be eligible for a grant under the Renewable Heat Premium Payment (RHPP) scheme, as long as you haven’t received funding previously.

There are some other criteria to meet too, including:

  • Your home must be sufficiently insulated. By this, regulations state loft insulation to 250mm and wall cavity insulation where practical
  • Your property must have had a Green Deal assessment before submitting a claim for funding
  • You should ensure all planning permission is in place if necessary
  • The product and installer must be Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS) registered.
