Cardigan is a community and neighborhood in the area of Ceredigion in Wales. The community lies on a tidal reach of the River Teifi at the factor where Ceredigion, formerly Cardiganshire, meets Pembrokeshire. Cardigan was the county town of the historical region as well as is the second-largest community in Ceredigion. The largest community, Aberystwyth, is one of both administrative centres; the other being Aberaeron. The negotiation at Cardigan was established around the Norman castle integrated in the late 11th or very early 12th century. The castle was the place of the initial National Eisteddfod in 1176. The town came to be a vital port in the 18th century, however decreased by the very early 20th century owing to its superficial harbour. The castle underwent remediation in 2014. The population in 2001 was 4,203, reducing somewhat to 4,184 at the 2011 census. Modern Cardigan is a portable and busy community, having the majority of the facilities for retail, education, wellness, prayer and sport.
