If you're searching for an asbestos removals company in your area then you've arrived at the ideal place. Quotatis is a one-stop shop where you can apply for free quotes; we'll match your criteria and provide you around four companies.
Asbestos removing is an important process in UK properties. For building reasons asbestos used to be very well liked in the United Kingdom mostly for its insulation attributes. However with related health risks the Government enforced a ban on its use in 2006.
Despite this you can still find numerous properties with asbestos use within the ceilings and walls. And the consequences of prolonged exposure can be quite damaging to your health, with two types of lung cancer linked with asbestos.
If you'd like to get asbestos removed from your home, a Health and Safety Executive will perform an evaluation to find out if it's present. If this is the case it should be essential to have removed, because if you become diagnosed with an asbestos associated condition it can often be too far gone.
For your very own safety, make sure to make use of our service to compare and contrast prices from specialists locally. We'll match your requirements with up to four companies so you can be given a no cost quote for the work and take the matter from there.
Asbestos removal costs fluctuate according to the amount of material you have that needs removing, how easy it is to access and remove, and your location. However, the average price for an asbestos removal project in the UK is about £800.

Bodmin is a civil parish and main town in Cornwall, England, UK. It is situated south-west of Bodmin Moor. The size of the civil parish corresponds fairly closely to that of the town so is mostly urban in character. It's bordered towards the east by Cardinham parish, to the southeast by Lanhydrock parish, to the southwest and west by Lanivet parish, and to the north by Helland parish. As per the 2001 Census, Bodmin had a population of about 13,000 inhabitants. This population had increased to 15,000 by the 2011 Census. The town used to be the county town of Cornwall until the Crown Courts transferred to Truro, which is also the administrative centre. Bodmin was in the administrative North Cornwall District till local government reorganisation in 2009 removed the District. The town is a part of the North Cornwall parliamentary constituency. Bodmin Town Council is comprised of 16 councillors who serve a term of four years. Every year, the Council elects 1 of its number as Mayor to serve as the town's civic leader and to chair council meetings. Bodmin Beacon Local Nature Reserve is the hill which overlooks the town. The reserve features 83 acres (33.6 hectares) of public land and reaches a total of 162 metres at its highest point, with a distinct landmark at the highest point. The 44-metre tall monument to Sir Walter Raleigh Gilbert was constructed in 1857 by the townspeople of Bodmin to honour the soldier's life and work . If you’re thinking about having your asbestos removed, you have two options - either you take on the project yourself or you call in a reliable professional for help. If you do not have enough time on your plate or perhaps you’re not confident enough to carry out this project on your own, then you’d have to reach out to an expert and of course, it comes with a cost.
The cost of removing asbestos is, however, not fixed as it depends on many factors. These factors works to decrease or increase the cost of removing asbestos. The factors include the type of asbestos material that needs to be removed, if the material can be encapsulated rather than removed, if the material has been sampled and tested, the location where the works would be carried out, size of the area, the accessibility of the asbestos, if other sites users or neighbours will be affected as well as the type of the building be it residential, commercial, industrial.
With a plethora of important things to put into consideration, it’s therefore essential to call in a qualified, competent and professional asbestos removal company to provide a reasonable quote for your unique project. Generally, in the UK, you can expect to pay the approximate cost of around £1000 or less for smaller areas. However, for larger areas the cost of removing such an asbestos will cost you considerably more. The cost can be within the range of £2500 and above in the UK.
These prices may seem high at first but its definitely worth it when you look at it’s possible effect on the health of you and your loved ones.
For some types of asbestos, you are not legally required to use a licensed contractor. However, it’s recommended that you always use one. These contractors will have all the relevant training and knowledge to make sure asbestos is removed safely. The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) is the licensing body.
Is Asbestos Dangerous?
The short and simple answer to this question is yes, asbestos is absolutely dangerous. Exposure to asbestos fibres and dust can lead to cancer, lung disease and lots more. It’s known to be so dangerous that no level of exposure to asbestos is considered safe. It has been banned in the UK since 1999 but exposure is till rampant due to the exceptions to the ban and there’s a good chance that you’ll find it in several older buildings and homes. And despite the ban in most countries, asbestos related health issues are still on the rise across the globe. People that are mostly exposed to this risk are those who’re exposed on the job as well as those who simply like to take on projects around the house containing asbestos insulation by themselves.
Furthermore, there’s a need to observe safety precautions when working with asbestos. If not, you’ll be exposing both you and your family to long term health risks. Below are some of the things you need to know about the dangers of asbestos.
✓ Exposure to asbestos fibres has no safe level. So it’s best to avoid exposure at all costs.
✓ Breathing in asbestos dust can lead to lung cancer, asbestosis and mesothelioma.
✓ If disturbed, asbestos can release dangerous particles of dust containing asbestos fibres.
✓ Mesothelioma is a type of cancer which mostly affects the lung’s lining. It has no cure.
✓ If you smoke, then the risk of inhaling asbestos is greatly increased.
✓ The number of fibres inhaled as well as the length of time that you’ve been exposed to it increases the risk of contracting asbestos related diseases.
✓ The symptoms of asbestos dust related diseases do not commonly come out until its about 20 to 30 years after the first exposure.
If you find out there’s asbestos in your property, it’s not always necessary to remove it. Asbestos is relatively low-risk if it’s contained in a material. This means that, if the material it’s in is in good condition, it shouldn’t be a problem.
However, if a material containing asbestos is damaged, or you want to remove, sand or drill into it, it’s best to have it removed by a licensed professional.
