Gas Boiler (Repair & Servicing) in Much Wenlock

Looking for a combi boiler repair or service within Much Wenlock? Our engineers in Much Wenlock are going to offer the top quotes for having a central heating boiler repair or service carried out.

Boilers are among the most important parts of any house, offering heat and hot water all year long. This means any problems really need to be handled previous to turning into a major issue.

In the middle of winter it can cost at least £200 just in call-out costs for an engineer. This is ahead of the cost of replacing components.

To prevent paying out a significant amount of money, ensure to have your central heating boiler serviced every year so any kind of faults can be discovered as quickly as possible. On top of this, having a service assures that your central heating boiler is operating efficiently, reducing your costs.

The service will also highlight any threat too, like a carbon monoxide leak. Carbon monoxide poisoning is responsible for 100s of deaths and hospitalisations each year, so make sure this doesn't happen to you.

We will provide you up to 4 engineers, who'll give quotes for the work. You'll receive a home visit from specialists within Much Wenlock who will supply the central heating boiler repair or service for a excellent price.

Much Wenlock

Much Wenlock is a community and parish in Shropshire, England, situated on the A458 road between Shrewsbury and Bridgnorth. Nearby, to the northeast, is the Ironbridge Gorge, and the brand-new community of Telford. The civil parish includes the villages of Homer (1 mile north of the town), Wyke (2 miles northeast), Atterley (2 miles southeast) and also Bourton (3 miles southwest). The population of the civil parish, according to the 2001 census, was 2,605, boosting to 2,877 at the 2011 Census. Much Wenlock was traditionally the chief community of the old district of Wenlock. The "Much" was contributed to the name to differentiate it from the close-by Little Wenlock, and indicates that it is the bigger of the two settlements. Noteworthy historic tourist attractions in the community are Wenlock Priory as well as the Guildhall. The name Wenlock possibly originates from the Celtic name Wininicas, meaning "white area" (of the limestone of Wenlock Edge), plus the Old English loca, indicating "confined location". The town was recorded in the Domesday Book as Wenloch. The Wenlock Olympian Games established by Dr William Penny Brookes in 1850 are centred in the town. Dr Brookes is attributed as a founding father of the contemporary Olympic Games, as well as one of the London 2012 Summer Olympics mascots; called Wenlock after the town.

FAQs

How often should I have a boiler service?

You should have your boiler serviced every year. This ensures that your central heating system is running safely and efficiently, but it’s often also a requirement to keep your boiler’s warranty valid. To avoid disruption to your heating, the best time of year to service your boiler is the summer. You’ll often find that boiler companies will charge less because they have less work.

how to fix a broken boiler?

How To Fix A Broken Boiler

To fix any problem when it comes to home appliances, the first step is always to identify the problem while also carrying out thorough checks - a broken boiler is not an exception. Putting enough time and effort in diagnosing a problem can go a lot way to save you both time and money. So here are some of the steps you can take to fix your broken boiler before you put a call out to a licensed engineer.

✓ Check to confirm if your pilot light is on. Whenever you’re facing some issues with your boiler, this should always be the first thing you do. The pilot light being on speak volumes, if the light is off then there’s absolutely no way the flame can start the appliance’s gas supply. You should try to put it back on, if off. To do this, you simply have to follow the detailed instructions on your boiler’s manual strictly. If after following these actions to the letter and the issue remains the same, then you’d probably need the services of an a qualified engineer. Never try to fix the issue on your own.

✓ Check the pressure. The solution to the headaches might sometimes be as simple as examining your appliance’s pressure gauge. Here, the good numbers are around 1.0 or1.5, if it happens to fall below this, then you should open the boiler’s instruction manual. You can also inspect your radiator valves for any leaks. You’d have to call in a specialist to solve the issue.

✓ Check the thermostat. Here, it’s important to note that a faulty thermostat doesn’t necessarily imply a broken boiler. It may just signify that you need to replace your thermostat. Simply check to ensure that your thermostat is turned on and temperature is at the appropriate degree.

How to repair a boiler leak?

If your boiler is leaking, there are some checks that you can do yourself. However, you should never attempt to repair your boiler yourself – only a Gas Safe-registered engineer should conduct repairs.

There are 3 main reasons why your boiler might be leaking: there’s a pressure valve fault, a temperature valve leak or corrosion in the system. An engineer will be able to spot the problem quickly, but in the meantime there are a few things you can do:

Check the pipe fittings

If your boiler is leaking water around the pipe fittings, it could be an installation fault and you should get in touch with the engineer that fitted it. You can check the pipe fittings by drying the area then waiting to see if the water appears again. If it does, you may be able to do a ¼ turn of the pipe to stop it. However, you should still call the engineer that installed it to ask them to check the PTFE tape on the inside.

Inspect the seals

Over time, the rubber seals on a boiler can start to perish, so if you have an old boiler this could be the source of your leak. If you have a new boiler, it could be caused by your boiler running over pressure.

Heat exchanger corrosion

Unfortunately, if a boiler engineer discovers that the boiler is leaking water from the heat exchanger, this is the end of the road for your system. The heat exchanger is the most expensive part of your boiler, so it makes more financial sense to replace your boiler with a newer, more efficient model rather than try to replace it.

Can I repair my own boiler?

No. You must never repair your own boiler – only a Gas Safe-registered engineer can do any work on your boiler. You can do simple DIY tasks to repressurise your boiler or stop a leak, but if you have to remove the outer casing of the boiler or touch the flue then you must get a qualified boiler engineer to take a look at your central heating system.
