Barnehurst is a town and district in South East London within the London Borough of Bexley. It is north east of Bexleyheath, and is 13 miles east south-east of Charing Cross. It's separated from North Bexleyheath by the A220 Erith Road.
The town was established following the sale of land in 1881 to create the Bexleyheath loop line in between Lewisham and Dartford. Its name originates from the name of the railway station, which was named after Colonel Barne, who owned a nearby property and was vice-chairman of the railway company. These days, the railway station runs trains between London Charing Cross, London Victoria or London Cannon Street, by way of Lewisham and Eltham towards the west and Dartford railway station to the east. There are 12 trains each hour through the week; on Sundays, there are 4 trains per hour. The railway station was openedto encourage the construction of houses. The Barnehurst Estate was constructed in 1926 which housed a lot of people.
In addition to the railway station, Barnehurst is served by 5 buses, 1 of which goes to the well-liked Bluewater Shopping Centre. There are hardly any purchasing or leisure opportunities inside the town, so individuals usually go to surrounding locations employing public transport links or the primary roads.
Barnehurst is home towards the non-league football club Phoenix Sports FC, which plays at Phoenimx Sports Ground.
