Malvern is a spa town in addition to civil parish in Worcestershire, England, controlled by Malvern Town Council. As of the 2001 census it features a population of 28,749, and incorporates the historic settlement and industrial hub of Great Malvern around the steep eastern flank of the Malvern Hills, as well as the former independent urban region of Malvern Link. Many of the main suburbs and settlements that consist of the town are divided by large tracts of open common land and fields and, coupled with smaller sized civil parishes next to the town council boundaries and the hills, the built up area is often referenced to collectively as The Malverns.
