Burnham-on-Sea is a town in Somerset, located on the mouth of the River Parrett and Bridgewater Bay. Before the eighteenth century, Burnham was a little fishing village. After its establishment in 1860, a steamer service to Wales began, although it failed to become a commercial success. A second steamer service, concrete pier, completed after 3 years of work in 1914, is generally known as the shortest pier in Britain.
