Well you’ve got less than two months to take advantage of the Government’s grants, and funding is set to end on March 31. So you need to be quick.
The good news is there’s a choice of products on the market, with solar thermal panels, heat pumps and biomass boilers all eligible under the grant scheme.
The need for renewables has never been greater, with energy bills increasing year-on-year. Taking advantage of the scheme will see you save thousands of pounds and put an end to your expensive bills.
From spring, those with renewables will benefit from a guaranteed income too, under the Renewable Heat Incentive. This is paid for seven years and acts as further incentive for an installation.
Renewable grants
The grants available until March 31 are listed below:
- A ground source heat pump: £2,300 grant
- A biomass boiler: £2,000 grant
- An air source heat pump: £1,300 grant
- A Solar thermal panel system: £600 grant
Are you eligible for a grant?
The Government funding is available to those in England, Scotland and Wales. You can’t have received a grant before though and must ensure other criteria are met as follows:
- Your property will need to have adequate insulation: 250mm of loft lagging and wall cavity insulation where appropriate. Most homes should have this but if not, it makes sense to become energy efficient
- You must have had a Green Deal assessment on your property, completed by a registered assessor
- If planning permission applies, you must have the correct approvals in place
- The product and installer must be Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS) registered.
