Ashbourne

Ashbourne is a market town in the Derbyshire Dales in England. As a result of its proximity to the southern edge of the Peak District and being the closest town to the well-known area of Dovedale, the town is referred to as both the 'Gateway to Dovedale' as well as the 'Gateway to the Peak District'. This has meant that tourism has constantly been important to the town's economy. As per the 2011 Census, the town boasts a permanent population of about 8377 inhabitants. It includes a lot of historical buildings and many independent shops and is well-known for its historic yearly Shrovetide football match. The cobbled marketplace hosts a traditional outside market each Thursday and Saturday throughout the year, complementing the wide array of individual shops in the town. Though its market heritage is important, Ashbourne's market came under threat of closure from Derbyshire County Council in November 2012. Residents of Ashbourne have opposed any such moves by the council and began an online petition. Ashbourne became the 97th Fairtrade Town in March 2005 after numerous local businesses, cafes, shops and community organisations began supporting Fairtrade. Ashbourne has a considerable variety of public houses for such a little town centre. At the moment, you'll find 10 pubs trading, together with two social clubs. The famous and rare 'gallows' sign across St John's Street is still central meeting point in the town. Local historians have noted that nearly 1 in 4 buildings in the town have at one time or another been an alehouse, pub or inn or underwent renovations on the site of such an establishment. For all of your residence improvements, be certain that you use trusted professionals in Ashbourne to ensure that you get the very best quality service.

FAQs

Can a plumber fix my gas boiler?

This will depend on the issue. However, many plumbers are also Gas Safe Registered, meaning they can undertake work on all aspects of boilers and central heating systems. It's best to look out for plumbers that display the badge of your boiler on their literature.

What should I do if I have a leaking pipe or tap?

If a tap is leaking, it may simply be a loose valve or washer. However, if these appear to be sufficiently tight, you should contact a plumber, who will be able to investigate and rectify the leak. Do not attempt to fix leaking or damaged pipes, always call a plumber in straight away.

Will I have to get different contractors for the plumbing, heating and electrics?

In some circumstances, you may have to hire different companies for different parts of your garage conversion. But most of the time, garage conversion companies have their own tradespeople or contractors that are qualified to do all the work involved. When you're at the quotation stage, any contractor will advise you of what they are able and not able to cover.

What kind of services will I need a plumber for?

While some small plumbing jobs can be completed yourself, it’s recommended that you use a certified plumber for bigger jobs. Installing toilets or sinks, repairing leaks, and replacing pipes are all jobs that qualified plumbers will be able to undertake.
