Start your projectStreet is a big village and civil parish in the English county of Somerset. It lies on a dry spot in the Somerset Degrees, at the end of the Polden Hills, about 2 miles (3.2 km) south-west of Glastonbury. According to the 2011, the town has a permanent population of 11,805 individuals. Much of the background of the town is controlled by Glastonbury Abbey until the Dissolution of the Monasteries, and its name originates from a 12th-century causeway from Glastonbury, which was constructed to deliver regional Blue Lias rock from what is currently Street to reconstruct the Abbey. By the middle of the 17th century, The Culture of Friends came to be recognized. One Quake family, the Clarks, started a service in sheepskin rugs, woollen sandals and, later, boots as well as footwear. The Shoe Museum provides info regarding the history of Clarks and shoes manufacture as a whole. To the north of Street is the River Brue, which notes the boundary with Glastonbury. South of Street are the Walton and also Ivythorn Hills and also East Polden Grasslands biological Websites of Special Scientific Interest. For leisure, Street has 2 public swimming pools, one indoor which is part of the Strode complicated, as well as the outside lido, Greenbank. The Anglican Parish Church of The Holy Trinity dates from the 14th century as well as has actually been designated by English Heritage as a Quality I listed structure.
