I think of architecture of buildings not in isolation, but as interlocking and evolving. Landscape is inseparable from structure, ecology is inseparable from building requirements, and improving our relationships and our environment is the ultimate goal of any project. Aesthetic movements come and go, but I find these principles to be timeless.

I strive for honesty and clarity. My first job is to understand the client’s vision and needs, not to present my own. I value timeliness, direct communication and prototypes over presentations.
I admire Britain’s historical buildings but do not feel we should make buildings as we did in the past. I feel that it is by respecting our heritage and considering local needs we can create the heritage of the future.
