The Landlord and Tenant Act 1985 requires landlords to ensure all electrical installations are safe at the beginning of a tenancy and that they are maintained safely throughout. Testing should only be undertaken by someone competent to do such work. This also relates to any additional electrical appliances the landlord may offer as part of a tenancy
