Bognor Regis
Bognor Regis is a resort town and civil parish within the traditional county of Sussex on the south coast of England. Administratively, it is inside the Arun district of the non-metropolitan county of West Sussex, and suburbs of the town are the villages of Felpham, Alwick, and North and South Bersted. Though the town experiences an oceanic climate which is similar to the whole of the United Kingdom, it boasts more than 1900 hours of sunshine on average, which is the highest recorded annual level of sunshine in Britain. Its coastal location also stops extreme temperatures. Since 1960, the temperatures recorded at Bognor have never fallen beneath -9.4C or risen above 31.5 Celsius, in comparison with other locations within the Sussex Weald dropping below -15C and rising above 35 Celsius. From 1864, many wealthy Victorian households appeared in the town and a seaside resort was subsequently established by Sir Richard Hotham. Since the start of the 1930s, an amusement park along with a zoo have been in the area, and a holiday camp from the 1960s has led the town towards much more hotel accommodation with contemporary amenities. The population of Bognor progressively increased over the course of the 20th century, being at 64,000 in the 2011 census. The post-war period saw partial industrial redevelopment, particularly in the 1960s soon after the establishment of a new shopping parade, health centre and high-rise block of flats. The town centre is mostly pedestrian friendly, making a very accessible purchasing experience for the town's inhabitants and tourists.
