Alexandria

Alexandria is a town in West Dunbartonshire, Scotland. The town is positioned on the River Leven, 4 miles (6 kilometres) north-west of Dumbarton. In 2001, the population of the town was 13,444. It's the biggest town inside the Vale of Leven. Alexandria developed due to the textile market. In 1715, the first bleachfields in the area were started at Dalquhurn, attracting seasonal labour from Argyll. As trade between Scotland and the United States grew, cotton was increasingly imported and processed in and around Glasgow. Soon, textile work in the Vale grew from just bleaching fabric to dying and printing it too. The town's traditional industries, above all cotton manufacturing, bleaching and printing, have been phased out. The town was redeveloped during the 1970s with a brand new town centre layout and traffic system. Close by landmarks include Christie Park and the fountain in the town centre. Alexandria sits on the former A82 main road between Glasgow and Loch Lomond. You will find regular bus services on the route and the town features a railway station on the rail line between Balloch and Glasgow Queen Street. The town is reputed to be the only UK town with a railway station plus a pub in the center of a roundabout. The author A. J. Cronin's uncle owned a pub in Bridge Street. Alexandria Library is positioned on Gilmour Street. The town is home to the Vale of Leven football club, who play at Millburn Park. The club were a dominant force in early Scottish football history, winning the Scottish Cup in 1877, 1878 and 1879, and were founding members of the Scottish Football League. For all of your property improvements, make certain that you employ trustworthy specialists in Alexandria to make sure that you get the very best quality service.

What is the difference between a conservatory and an orangery?

Conservatories and orangeries look very similar, so it can be hard to tell what their differences are. The main thing that distinguishes the two is the amount of glazing they have.

Conservatories also tend to have walls that are made up of at least 50% glass. However, orangeries have glass on less than 50% of the wall area.

Orangeries were originally developed to grow oranges in large stately homes. Their mixture of brick and glazing gave the oranges a combination of plenty of sunlight and shelter.
