Langport
Langport is a village as well as civil parish in Somerset, England, 5 miles (8.0 km) west of Somerton in the South Somerset area. The church (which covers only part of the town) has a population of 1,081. Langport is contiguous with Huish Episcopi, a separate church that includes much of the town's borders. Langport rests on the eastern bank of the River Parrett, below the factor where that river is signed up with by the River Yeo (Ivel). The community falls within the Non-metropolitan district of South Somerset, which was based on 1 April 1974 under the Local Government Act 1972, having previously belonged to Langport Rural District.
