With time guttering may become filled by waste, leaves, or moss which can result in leaks or harm to the guttering. Leaking or poorly draining guttering can cause further problems to the building including serious structural issues, so it is crucial to have your guttering cleaned out if you think there could be any blockages. Regular preventative cleaning will ensure that your guttering is collecting and diverting rainwater as effectively as possible. Cleaning guttering is typically done by employing specialist equipment such as telescopic hoses or high access vans, and professional guttering companies can use this equipment to clear blockages and clean out the guttering system. Guttering blockages can result in a accumulation of water in the guttering itself. This is especially serious in downpipes, where water could sit for a considerable period of time. In winter this water can freeze and cause severe damage to the guttering. Preventative gutter cleaning is critical to stop this from occurring. Professional guttering companies can evaluate your gutter cleaning and maintenance needs and agree on a continuous routine of work with you, ensuring that they abide by all health and safety requirements for working at height. The type and frequency of gutter cleaning may vary depending on the style of guttering you have as well as the position of any nearby trees, but a normal guide is that cleaning should be carried out twice yearly to ensure that your guttering remains in the best condition possible.
