Droitwich
Droitwich Spa is a town in the north of the county of Worcestershire. Positioned on the River Salwarpe containing sizable deposits of salt, the extraction of salt has been a venture occurring ever since the ancient period. The natural Droitwich brine contains two and a half pounds of salt per gallon, which is 10 times greater than sea water. In the 19th century, John Corbett, the son of a Black Country barge owner, established the town's spa services after the downturn of the salt industry. The Droitwich Spa Lido was a particularly popular leisure tourist attraction, which was established in the 1930s as a public outdoors salt water swimming pool. Although the Lido was closed in the late 1990s, remodellings in 2006 enabling the reopening of the centre in the summer of 2007 has permitted the Lido to continue as a satisfying and eye-catching amusement. Droitwich is within Wychavon, a local government district that was the only region in the Midlands to appear in the Halifax 'Quality of Life Survey' in 2011, which was ranked as 6th overall. A range of leisure activities are available for the growing 22585 citizens recorded in the 2011 census. This features the options supplied by the Droitwich Canal Network for walkers and cyclists, the large number of independent and high street merchants, in addition to numerous markets regularly occurring in the town. Celebrations occur throughout the year, and performances can be seen throughout the year at the Norbury Theatre. For all your home upgrades, ensure to make use of dependable experts in Droitwich Spa to make certain of quality.
