Wotton-under-Edge is a market community within the Stroud district of Gloucestershire, England. Found near the southerly edge of the Cotswolds, the Cotswold Way long-distance footpath travels through the town. Basing on the B4058, Wotton has to do with 5 miles (8.0 km) from the M5 freeway. The closest railway station is Cam and Dursley, 7 miles (11 km) away by road, on the Bristol to Birmingham line. The community is relatively well offered for a town of its size. It has several pubs and a hotel, and a variety of takeaways and also restaurants. It can be quite lively during the night compared to many others of its size. It has several energetic social groups, such as Scouts, Guides, a gardening club and the Wotton Lions. In 1958, local people and school trainees constructed the town swimming pool, which was completed in 1961. Ultimately the pool has had solar as well as electrical home heating set up. In 1999 with the fund elevating assistance of community teams, a retracting unit was fitted to prolong the swimming season. In 2002, adhering to the closure of the regional cinema, a team of volunteers increased funds for a refurbishment to become one of the first electronic movie theaters in the UK. It re-opened in 2005 as a 100-seat center inside an old stable lawn, as soon as part of the Crown Inn which enclosed 1911. Films were first displayed in the old Banqueting Hall of the Inn as well as relocated to the steady backyard some years later on, due to the popularity of films. The Wotton Electric Picture House (the initial name) is currently a flourishing venue.
