Emsworth is a town in Hampshire on the south coast of England, near the border of West Sussex. It lies at the north end of an arm of Chichester Harbour, a large and shallow inlet from the English Channel. Adjacent to Emsworth is Thorney Island. The River Ems, which is named after the village and not, as is commonly thought, the town being named after the river, passes into the Slipper millpond. The mill itself is now made use of as office spaces. According to the 2011 Census, the town has a permanent resident population of around 9492 people. Emsworth grew quickly during the 20th century, reaching a population of about 5000 by the middle of the century after having around 2000 residents in the 19th century. The 1000th house in Emsworth was developed in 1953. In the 1960s, substantial parts of the region were developed with a mix of cottage and terraced housing. In 1906, development began on the post office, with local cricketer George Wilder laying an etched brick. The renamed Emsworth Recreation Ground dates from 1909 and is the current home of Emsworth Cricket Club, which was founded in 1811 and commemorated its Bicentennial in 2011. It was signified with a Grand Match versus the MCC. Cricket in Emsworth has been played at the exact same ground, Cold Harbour Lawn, ever since 1761. In the 19th century, the town had as many as 30 bars and beer houses. The town has a basin for small yachts and fishing boats, which fills at high tide and can be cleared through a sluice at low tide. For all of your home renovations, make sure to find trusted professionals in Emsworth to make certain of quality.

Are you considering a dormer loft conversion for your home? If yes, then you’d probably want to know how much it costs. Unfortunately, due to the several variables and influencing factors, a precise answer can not be provided for all dormer loft conversions. In this article we’ll give you a vague idea of the general cost so you can set a more realistic budget and start planning.
There are three main types of loft conversion which includes the Velux, Dormer, and Mansard. Out of the three types, the dormer happens to be the most common type and possesses a small flat roofed extension with a window. The dormer loft conversion will usually cost within the range of £25,000 to £30,000.
The price for a smaller dormer loft conversion, mid range dormer loft conversion and large scale dormer loft conversion will be at £2,000 to £7,000, £10,000 to £30,000 and £40,000 to £60,000 respectively. However, you should take note that the prices given are all based on varying influencing factors such as the type of installation that is selected, the type of the rood, en suite conversion as well as other customization. Changes in price can be as a result of the materials required and the extra time per labour that’s needed to complete this home improvement project by the tradesmen employed.
Furthermore, a dormer loft conversion average cost will also depend on the type of dormer you opt for. Here is a list of the most common applications:
✓ Blind dormer loft conversion - £3,200 to £4,400
✓ Recessed dormer - £1,300 to £1,850
✓ Barrel roof dormer - £3,000 to £4,600
✓ Gable dormer - £5,500 to £7,500
✓ Hipped roof dormer - £5,600 to £6,660
✓ Pedimented dormer - £12,700 to £23,100
✓ Flat roof dormer loft conversion - £13,800 to £21,600
There’s a huge range of different types of loft conversions. The most common are dormer and skylight or Velux conversions. There are also hip to gable and mansard conversions. The type of loft conversion that’s most suitable for your property will depend on the style of roof and the size of your loft.
Many types of loft are suitable for a loft conversion. In general, you will need at least 2.3 metres of headroom in your existing loft. This is to make sure there is enough headroom after the conversion. Speak to a conversion specialist about the probability and possibility of doing this in your house.
This is a type of loft conversion that extends your roof on the sloping side. It is a great option to go for especially where a hipped roof effectively makes the usable floor area a lot smaller which can be a tricky affair when it comes to putting in a new staircase. Here, the roof is extended from the current ridge in such a way that it effectively fills the gap between them. As a result, this turns the hip (in a hipped roof) into a gable to create space in your roof for a loft conversion - hence the name “hip to gable.
The new gable can be done in whatever way that suits both your taste as well as your property. You can make the new gable construction in woods and then tiled to match your existing roof while you can also go for other options such as brick block pebbledash or rendering. You are also free to fit in a new window into the loft conversion end so as to allow for natural light into the loft space.
A hip to gable loft conversion is mostly found on both semi detached and end terrace buildings, particularly those constructed in the 1930s. Overall, this type of loft conversion is particularly ideal for homes that features a hipped roof and with a sloping roof at the side of the property. Some detached properties can also possess a hipped roof on the side - and as such, a double hip to gable loft conversion can also be deal as it’ll create more loft space for usage. If your home fits into the bill, then you should be aware that once the project is completed, you’ll have plenty of usable space available to both you and your loved ones.
