There are several different kinds of plastering. ‘Dot and dab’ refers to a base layer of plasterboard which is attached to a wall using ‘dabs’ of adhesive. ‘Floating’ is a technique where a backing or undercoat plaster is applied to walls. ‘Skimming’ or ‘reskimming’ refers to the very thin final decorative layer of plaster.
Dalbeattie
Dalbeattie is a community in the historical county of Kirkcudbrightshire in Dumfries as well as Galloway, Scotland. Dalbeattie is in a woody valley on the Urr Water 6 km (4 mi) eastern of Castle Douglas and 19 km (12 mi) south west of Dumfries. The town is renowned for its granite market as well as for being the residence town of William McMaster Murdoch, the First Officer of the RMS Titanic. The Dalbeattie War Memorial was developed by Pilkington Jackson and also was unveiled in 1921.
