Caldicot
Caldicot is a small town and community within Monmouthshire, southeast Wales. The name 'Caldicot' is usually believed to come from the Old English phrase 'calde cot' meaning 'cold hut'. A cold hut is an exposed shelter made use of by either humans or animals. Based on population estimates collected in 2014, the town has a permanent resident population of around 11,500. Among the oldest buildings in Caldicot, Llanthony Secunda Manor was constructed around 1120 as a grange for monks from Llanthony Secunda Priory in Gloucester.
