Emsworth

Emsworth is a small town in Hampshire on the south coast of England, near the border of West Sussex. It lies at the north end of an arm of Chichester Harbour, a large and shallow inlet from the English Channel. Adjacent to Emsworth is Thorney Island. The River Ems, which is named after the village and not, as is generally believed, the town being named after the river, passes into the Slipper millpond. The mill itself is now made use of as office spaces. According to the 2011 Census, the town has a permanent resident population of around 9492 people. Emsworth grew quickly throughout the 20th century, reaching a population of about 5000 by the middle of the century after having around 2000 homeowners in the 19th century. The 1000th house in Emsworth was built in 1953. In the 1960s, large parts of the region were developed with a mix of bungalow and terraced housing. In 1906, building began on the post office, with local cricketer George Wilder laying an etched brick. The renamed Emsworth Recreation Ground dates from 1909 and is the present home of Emsworth Cricket Club, which was established in 1811 and celebrated its Bicentennial in 2011. It was marked with a Grand Match against the MCC. Cricket in Emsworth has been played at the very same ground, Cold Harbour Lawn, since 1761. In the 19th century, the town had as many as 30 pubs and beer houses. The town has a basin for modest sailboats and fishing boats, which fills at high tide and can be cleared through a sluice at low tide. For all your home improvements, be sure to identify credible specialists in Emsworth to make certain of quality.

FAQs

What should I do if I have a leaking pipe or tap?

If a tap is leaking, it may simply be a loose valve or washer. However, if these appear to be sufficiently tight, you should contact a plumber, who will be able to investigate and rectify the leak. Do not attempt to fix leaking or damaged pipes, always call a plumber in straight away.

What kind of services will I need a plumber for?

While some small plumbing jobs can be completed yourself, it’s recommended that you use a certified plumber for bigger jobs. Installing toilets or sinks, repairing leaks, and replacing pipes are all jobs that qualified plumbers will be able to undertake.

Can a plumber fix my gas boiler?

This will depend on the issue. However, many plumbers are also Gas Safe Registered, meaning they can undertake work on all aspects of boilers and central heating systems. It's best to look out for plumbers that display the badge of your boiler on their literature.

Will I have to get different contractors for the plumbing, heating and electrics?

In some circumstances, you may have to hire different companies for different parts of your garage conversion. But most of the time, garage conversion companies have their own tradespeople or contractors that are qualified to do all the work involved. When you're at the quotation stage, any contractor will advise you of what they are able and not able to cover.
