Tregaron
Tregaron is an ancient market community in Ceredigion, Wales, astride the River Brenig, a tributary of the River Teifi. Tregaron is 11 miles (18 km) northeast of Lampeter. According to the 2011 Census, the population of the ward of Tregaron was 1,213 and 67% of the population could talk Welsh. Tregaron is a community. The church is devoted to St Caron. He was a male of lowly beginnings but "his guts and generous deportment acquired him the sovereignty in Wales: he made war versus the Romans, reigned seven years and also was buried in Tregarron".: He is almost certainly the very same individual as Carausius who took power in Britain in 286 as well as was executed in 293 by Allectus (also see Carausian Revolt). An early Christian rock slab bearing the name Carausius and also the Chi Rho icon is maintained in Penmachno. The church has a tower and also stands on a rough eminence. It includes an easy nave as well as chancel. Various other significant structures in the town consist of the 13th-century Talbot Hotel, which supposedly has actually an elephant buried in its grounds. The remote church Soar y mynydd is close to Tregaron. In March, 1977, a home near Tregaron was one target of an Operation Julie police raid in which large amounts of the medication LSD were taken. Nearby Cors Caron (Tregaron Bog), is understood for its adders, buzzards, red kites, and also polecats. The River Brenig is kept in mind for its brown trout and also eels. The river has actually been the topic of dredging as well as flood-protection functions to provide 1-in-100-year flooding security to the community and boost the atmosphere for wild animals along a stretch of river.
