Pitched roofs have been typically seen around the country, but now it seems the flat roof is increasing in level of popularity. There are a few significant reasons for this as well, along with the simple fact they're cheaper to have built and are better for energy efficiency, costing you less on energy bills.

What's more, the flat roofing is fantastic for being resilient to the flippant weather conditions the UK is well known for. The style of roofing can be put together with almost any material too, dependant upon your requirements and current house.

Banwell

Banwell is a town and also civil parish on the River Banwell in the North Somerset area of Somerset, England. Its population was 2,919 according to the 2011 census. Banwell Camp, east of the village, is a univallate hillfort which has produced flint implements from the Palaeolithic, Neolithic as well as Bronze Age. It was also inhabited in the Iron Age. In the late 1950s it was dug deep into by J.W. Hunt of the Banwell Society of Archaeology. It is surrounded by a 4 metres (13 ft) high financial institution and also ditch. The remains of a Romano-British suite were uncovered in 1968. It consisted of a yard, wall and also bath home close to the River Banwell. Artefacts from the website suggest it fell under disuse in the fourth century. Earthworks from farm buildings, 420 metres (1,380 feet) south of Gout House Farm, occupied from the 11th to 14th centuries where archaeological remains suggest the site was first inhabited in the Romano-British period. The elevated area which was occupied by the Bower House was surrounded by a water loaded ditch, part of which has actually since been included into a rhyne. The church was part of the Winterstoke Hundred. Banwell Abbey was constructed as a bishops house in the 14th as well as 15th century on the site of a monastic structure. It was restored in 1870 by Hans Cost, and also is currently a Grade II * listed structure. Close-by is a little structure presented to the town by Miss Elizabeth Fazakerly, who lived at The Abbey in 1887 to house a tiny fire-engine. It functioned as the fire station until the 1960s as well as now houses a small gallery of souvenirs related to the fire station. "Beard's Stone" in Cave's Wood dates from 1842. It notes the reburial site of an old human skeleton located in a cave near Bishop's Cottage. William Beard, an amateur archaeologist that had found the bones, had them reinterred and also noted the site with the stone with a poetic inscription. Banwell Castle is a Victorian castle built in 1847 by John Dyer Sympson, a lawyer from London. Initially built as his home, it is now a resort and also restaurant and also is a Grade II * listed building.

    FAQs

    What is overlaying?

If your existing roof is still in good condition but the membrane is getting old, it’s often not worth exposing the structure to the weather whilst the contractor strips off the old membranes. The contractor will leave them in place to act as a base layer for a new roofing system. As long as there are no other problems with your roof, then overlaying is a good way to replace your flat roof.If you have any more questions about flat roofing that aren’t listed here, fill out our form to ask a contractor.

What guarantee or warranty can I get?

Most material warranties come from the waterproofing layer manufacturers, and can last between 5 and 20 years. If your roofing contractor is on the manufacturer’s installer list, it might cover their work. It’s important that you always read through all the information given to you about your warranty so you know exactly what is included.

how much is it to replace a garage roof?

How Much Is It To Replace A Garage Roof?

The size of your garage will be the main determinant of the cost of a new garage roof. However, the present condition of your roof structure as well as the type of roof covering preferred are also huge factors. In the UK, the cost of a garage roof replacement will be within the range of £700 to £3600.

The first step a pro will take is to remove the existing roofing while also making sure that the timber structure is in a good condition. In the event whereby the timber is rotten, it will need to be replaced before the installation of a new roof. If the garage roof sheets needs a replacement, you’ll have to spend about £30 to £50 per each garage roof sheets. Individual plywood sheet has around 2.4m x 1.2m in measurement and whose price should also be included in the final cost.

The above information applies only to standard roofing for garage roofs with flat roofs being made of bitumen felt and asphalt. In recent times, this is no longer the case with several more options available. Today, EPDM and GRP fibreglass have rapidly become very popular amongst several homeowners in the country. It’s also important to note that modern roofing has greatly advanced over the years even though both EPDM garage roofs and GRP fibreglass garage roofs are way better and of more quality when compared to felt and asphalt roofs. And thanks to modern technology, modern garage roofing possesses a longer life expectancy and as result, are a lot costlier than the conventional ones.

For a medium size single garage (2.7m x 5.5m), the cost for a felt roof per square metre is between £40 to £70, while that of a fiberglass roof and an EPDM rubber roof is between £90 to £110 and £70 to £100 respectively.

How long should a flat roof last?

It depends on the material you use, but if your flat roof is installed correctly it should last for at least 10 years, and at least 20 if a material other than felt is used. Always question a roofing company when they quote to find out what materials they use and what guarantee's they offer.
