Carrbridge
Carrbridge is a town in Badenoch and also Strathspey in the Scottish Highlands. It exists off the A9 on the A938, west of Skye of Curr, southeast of Tomatin, near Bogroy. It has the earliest rock bridge in the Highlands and also the close-by ancient pine woodland consists of the Landmark Forest Adventure Park. Carrbridge is about 10 km (6 mi) north of Aviemore and also develops a portal to the Cairngorms National Park. It was an early centre for winter sports in Scotland. In the 2001 census the town had a population of 708 people, with the bulk used in tourism. Up until the 1980s bypass was built, the A9 ran right with the village. Carrbridge is served by Carrbridge railway station on the Highland Main Line. Neighborhood dispute still raves relating to the name Carrbridge itself, with some liking to see it hyphenated to Carr-bridge. Words "Carr" has nothing to do with motorised transport but is originated from the Old Norse word for boggy area.
