Dunmow
Great Dunmow is a historical market town and civil parish in the Uttlesford area of Essex, England. It is located on the north of the A120 road, roughly midway between Bishop's Stortford and also Braintree, 6 miles east of London Stansted Airport. Initially the site of a Roman negotiation on Stane Street, the town thrived throughout the Middle Ages. Lots of buildings endure from this period, including a sixteenth-century town hall. Dunmow means "Meadow on the Hill". [4] The settlement was otherwise referred to as Dunmow Magna, Much Dunmow, or a lot of generally Great Dunmow. Great Dunmow borders the former estate of Easton Lodge in the neighbouring church of Little Easton, a country house belonging to the Maynard family members. The most notable member, Frances Maynard, ended up being the Countess of Warwick and later on a girlfriend of King Edward VII. As the Prince of Wales he was apparently a regular site visitor to the Estate, taking a trip from London on the train to Easton Lodge railway station. The initials "CW" are visible on a number of Victorian age residential properties in Great Dunmow. Called Daisy Greville, Countess of Warwick she was a generous benefactor in the neighborhood neighborhood. Since 2018, Robert Nicholson is Emeritus Mayor of Great Dunmow.
