Abergavenny is a market town in Monmouthshire, Wales. It is about 6 miles from the English border and 15 miles west of Monmouth, and has a population of 10,078. It was formerly the location of a Roman fort and it became a medieval walled town in the Welsh Marches. Abergavenny also contains the remains of a medieval stone castle erected following the Norman conquest of Wales.
