Aerial and satellite installation costs can differ depending on the type of aerial or satellite dish you want, how easy it is to access your roof or loft, and where you live.

If you're simply buying and setting up an indoor aerial, this won't cost you more than about £10 a little more if you need additional cables. Kidlington

Kidlington is a large village and civil parish in between the River Cherwell and the Oxford Canal. It is about 5 miles (8 km) north of Oxford and 7.5 miles (12 kilometres) southwest of Bicester. The settlement detailed in the Domesday Book of 1086 evolved from an ancient village adjacent to the church. Before the Enclosure acts of 1818, a substantial part south of the village was unenclosed common land, and the village was generally called Kidlington-on-the-Green. In accordance with the 2011 Census, the village has a permanent resident population of 13723. This makes it a serious competitor for the largest village in England. Kidlington residents have routinely withstood propositions to become a town, despite the fact that it certifies for such status against any criteria. Following a peremptory adjustment by the Parish Council to Town status, the adjustment was voted down in a ballot of the local electorate by 98 per cent, and subsequently reversed. There many options to engage in social, cultural and leisure activities in the town. Kidlington is the home of around 50 shops, both independent and commercial chain stores, banks and building societies, a public library, a large village hall and a weekly market. As well as this, there are seven public houses, 2 cafes, and 4 eateries. The public houses are concentrated along the dual carriageway that runs through the village, that include the Highwayman Hotel, the Black Horse, the Black Bull, the Red Lion, together with the King's Arms in the Moors, and the Six Bells in Mill Street. The Squire Bassett was transformed into a Nepalese restaurant and renamed the Gurkha Village in 2012. For all your home upgrades, make certain to make use of trustworthy contractors in Kidlington to make certain of quality.

FAQs

How to connect a TV to an aerial?

Your TV and aerial need to be connected by coaxial cable for your TV to work. Most properties have wall mounted connection boxes – similar to electrical plugs – that you can simply plug your TV into. If you don’t have a cable, it’s easy to pick up one from most DIY shops.

If you’re installing a new outside aerial, you may be able to reuse the old cable. If you can’t, you’ll need to route a new one down from your aerial to any sockets you need. Coaxial cable can be routed down the exterior of your property, through loft spaces, under floors and along skirting boards.

Can I receive a satellite signal using an aerial?

No, you will need a satellite dish to receive a satellite signal for services like Sky or Freesat, as these are specific channels and programmes only broadcast via this medium. These can be installed in a similar way to a standard TV aerial by a recognised engineer.

How to install a TV aerial?

The process you need to go through to install a TV aerial depends on the type of aerial you have. If you have an indoor aerial, it’s simple. Just plug the aerial into your TV and stand it up next to it. If the signal isn’t right, then try moving your aerial closer to a window or higher up. Make sure you rescan for channels every time you move it so you know if you’ve made an improvement. It’s also fairly easy to install a loft TV aerial – just take it up into your loft and position it in a convenient place. Again, experiment with angles and positions to ensure you get the best signal. Installing an outdoor TV aerial is a little trickier. Ideally, try to fix your aerial to a wall or chimney at a gable end – this will be much easier to access than a chimney in the middle of the roof. Follow the instructions that come with your aerial for mounting it – it’s usually best to lash your aerial on rather than use screws. If you’re not used to working at height or aren’t confident doing your own aerial installation work, it’s best to get in touch with a professional.

Can aerials be installed in places other than my roof?

Yes, an aerial could be installed in your garden or on outbuildings. This will depend on the strength of the signal in your area. A professional aerial installation company will be able to advise you on the possible locations for an aerial on your property.
