Heating | Gas | Boiler Replacement in Birmingham
Very good
The heating system is among the most vital parts of your house. Your boiler offers you heat and hot water all through the year and the chances are you take little notice of it. Why would you if it's churning out heat during the year with no problem?
But how expensive are your energy bills? Do you know upgrading your boiler will save you over £300 annually on bills because of the improved efficiency? If your boiler is in excess of 10-years old, then the odds are there's a huge saving to be made.
However, spending money on a brand new central heating boiler isn't the cheapest of house improvements. It's not the most costly either, and you can be looking at between £1,500 and £2,000 for a very efficient combi central heating boiler.
To help overcome this initial expense you might contemplate boiler finance. With finance you'll pay out a regular monthly fee for however long you decide to cover the price of the central heating boiler. This can be as few as 12 months and of course helps people who can't afford the entire one-off payment.
If your boiler stops working abruptly as well, you may want to think about boiler finance with no money quickly available in the bank. Boiler finance is perfect and although there exists a small interest fee, it's a convenient option.
The average cost of replacing your gas boiler is £2,500. Costs differ based on the type and brand of boiler you choose as well as the provider you decide to go with. For example, a small local business may be able to offer a better price than a large national tradesman as they will have fewer overheads. Itâs best to get a range of quotes from different boiler engineers so you can compare prices, reviews and references before going ahead.

Re-pressurising your boiler means that you allow more water to enter system via the filling loop. It can be easy to re-pressurise your boiler yourself. Always check your manual, but there are some simple steps you can take to restore pressure to your boiler:
• Switch off your boiler and let it cool completely
• Make sure both ends of your filling loop are attached
• Open both valves to allow cold water into the system – you’ll hear it start to move
• Look out for your pressure gauge to show 1.5 bar
• Close both valves
• Switch your boiler back on
• Undo both ends of your filling loop and remove it. Remember some water might come out, so be ready to catch some spillage!
The A-G scale refers to the energy efficiency of your boiler. G-rated boilers are the least efficient, and give you less heat and hot water for your money. Installing an A-rated boiler will reduce your energy bills and carbon emissions. Don't compromise on cheaper, lower rated boilers, you will save yourself more money longer term with an A-rated model.
If you get the right size boiler for your home and you get it serviced regularly, your boiler could last up to 15 years. It may even last longer than this, but you’ll find that your boiler begins to become less efficient as it gets older. Also, as technology improves, a boiler older than 15 years may not be the most efficient one on the market.
The size of boiler you need will depend on the size of your home, how many radiators and bathrooms you have and how many people live there. The boiler size refers to its output, which is measured in kilowatts (kW), rather than the actual dimensions. Speak to your boiler engineer about which boiler is suitable for you, as if you have more than one bathroom or a lot of people in your home a combi boiler might not suit you. Other boiler types such as system boilers or conventional boilers may be better suited to larger homes because they have bigger outputs.
