Lairg
Lairg is a town as well as church in Sutherland, Scotland. It has a population of 891 and goes to the south-eastern end of Loch Shin. Lairg is unusual in the north Highlands, if not unique, in being a large negotiation that is not on the coast. One of the reasons that Lairg is somewhat bigger than other non-coastal Highland villages is its main location within the county of Sutherland. Having 4 roads which fulfill in the town, it made use of to be referred to as "The Crossroads of the North". In the 19th century, it was provided with a railway station, on what is currently the Far North Line. This growth means that the north-west of Sutherland is now less complicated to reach. (The Far North Line links Inverness in the south with Thurso as well as Wick in the north.).
