Etchingham

Etchingham (population 806) is a village as well as civil church in the Rother area of East Sussex in southern England. The village lies around 15 miles (24 kilometres) southeast of Royal Tunbridge Wells in Kent and 13 miles (21 kilometres) northwest of Hastings, on the A265, half a mile west of its junction with the A21. Etchingham train station is on the Hastings Line to London Charing Cross and Cannon Street. Etchingham was a manor a long time prior to the Norman conquest of 1066; hereafter time the mansion was taken control of by the Normans. In 1166 it was entrusted to the de Achyngham (Etchingham) family, who were popular landowners of the moment. The Etchingham family members papers record that William was so delighted with his right-hand man that he gave him the land now referred to as Etchingham. The moated manor house, long since destroyed, stood at the factor now inhabited by the London to Hastings train line. Some of the rock from the chateau was probably used in the construction of the station buildings. There is one tale that an excellent bell lay at the end of the moat bordering the church as well as mansion, and that it would certainly never ever be seen until 6 yoke of white oxen were brought to drag it up. Centuries have actually gone by, the moat is long gone and no bell has surfaced. The 14th-century church was originally built within the premises of the estate; evidence of the moat can still be seen.

FAQs

Do alarms deter burglars?

Visible alarm systems can deter burglars. There are a range of options for what happens when an alarm is triggered. For example, there are bells only, alarm receiving centre, and homeowner monitored alarms. These are all effective as deterrence methods, and which you choose will depend on your specific needs.

Are wireless alarm systems reliable?

Modern wireless alarm systems are as reliable as wired systems. Wireless systems can transmit alerts as quickly and reliably as wired systems. They are also suitable for installation in more places as there does not need to be space to hide the wires.

How many sensors do I need?

The number of sensors you need will depend on the size of your home. Most alarm systems feature 2-4 passive infrared sensors (PIRs) for motion detection, and 2-4 magnetic contact sensors on doors and windows. An alarm company will advise you of how many your property will need upon an inspecton.

What are network enabled or IP cameras?

Network enabled/IP cameras are digital CCTV cameras. With these cameras, the video captured can be streamed over the internet anywhere in the world. Most manufacturers of IP cameras have a smartphone app that allows you to watch the video feed on your phone.
