Flint

Flint is a town in Flintshire, Wales, resting on the estuary of the River Dee. Flint is situated in north-east Wales, adjoining the River Dee, to the north of the town of Mold. Across the River Dee, the Wirral can be seen from Flint and views to the south of the town include Halkyn Mountain. Flint is set less than 12 miles from the English urban of Liverpool, and even closer to its metro location. Nonetheless, because of the two bays and rivers between, driving distance is pretty much two times as long. The name relates to the stoney platform on which the castle was built, and was initially noted in 1277 in the French form 'le Chaylou'. Flint has the oldest town charter in Wales, dating from 1284. It was formerly Flintshire's county town, and is today the 3rd largest town in the county. In accordance with the 2001 Census, the permanent resident population of the area of Flint was 12804, which increased to 12953 at the 2011 Census. About 18 per cent of the local population classified themselves as Welsh, although the census had no tick box enabling them to do so. In 2011, Welsh identity was included and 57.1 percent specified that they had Welsh, Welsh and British or other combined identity. Many people in Flint have some knowledge of the Welsh language, although knowledge does differ. English is the primary spoken language to be heard throughout the town. One of the town's most eye-catching images is the group of three tower blocks of flats near the town centre, which were built in the 1960s. For all your home improvements, make sure to identify reliable professionals in Flint to make certain of quality.

FAQs

Does CCTV work in the dark?

Most cameras have a night mode to capture video in the dark. They use an infrared sensor to detect infrared light. These pictures are black and white, but still retain plenty of detail. Cameras are also able to see and record in adverse conditions such as fog, dust and smoke.

How many sensors do I need?

The number of sensors you need will depend on the size of your home. Most alarm systems feature 2-4 passive infrared sensors (PIRs) for motion detection, and 2-4 magnetic contact sensors on doors and windows. An alarm company will advise you of how many your property will need upon an inspecton.

Does CCTV deter crime?

Various studies have suggested that CCTV is an effective deterrent against home burglaries. In the event that a crime is committed on your property, well placed CCTV means you’ll have the evidence to help the police. It has been recorded consistantly that since CCTV systems have been installed, localised crime has fallen and has lead to more arrests.

Will my alarm system cause lots of false alarms?

Properly installed and calibrated alarm systems will very rarely trigger a false alarm. If you have pets you will need to use pet-friendly alarm systems. External sensors should be properly calibrated to avoid triggering in the wind or rain. NSI is a recognised standard for all alarm installations, check the NSI flag is displayed on an installers credentials.
