Leek

Leek is a market town and civil parish in the English county of Staffordshire. Set on the River Churnet, it is 10 miles north east of Stoke-on-Trent. It is an ancient borough and was awarded a royal charter in 1214. The majority of the town is at or higher than 180 metres above sea level, and it is encircled by the countryside of the Staffordshire Moorlands, which is located on the southern uplands of the Pennines. It is the administrative base for the Staffordshire Moorlands District Council. The town was built on the slope and crown of a hill, and it is at the base of the Peak District National Park. The town is, consequently, known as the 'Gateway to the Peak District', in addition to being generally called the 'Queen of the Moorlands'. It has a long history of being a market town, with the right to host a weekly market and a yearly week-long fair being bestowed by King John in 1207. Various structures dating from the Victorian period stay standing in the town, and many of these were developed by the architectural practice of the Sugdens, 'Sugden and Sons'. William Sugden arrived in Leek in 1849, brought over as a result of his work on the style of the railway stations in the Churnet Valley Railway. Distinctive buildings feature the Congregational Church, Myatt; s Mill, Mill Street Methodist Chapel and Ragged School, and West Street School. Their effect of their designs on the town continues to be far-reaching. Other local attractions are the local football club, Leek Town F.C., Alton Towers amusement park, and Rudyard Lake Steam Railway near Rudyard Lake. For all your home upgrades, make certain to make use of reliable specialists in Leek to make certain of quality.

FAQs

Are wireless alarm systems reliable?

Modern wireless alarm systems are as reliable as wired systems. Wireless systems can transmit alerts as quickly and reliably as wired systems. They are also suitable for installation in more places as there does not need to be space to hide the wires.

Which CCTV camera should I get?

The type of camera that will be most effective will vary depending on the space you would like to monitor as well as the specific location. Professional CCTV installation companies can carry out a survey of your property and identify the key areas to monitor.

Do alarms deter burglars?

Visible alarm systems can deter burglars. There are a range of options for what happens when an alarm is triggered. For example, there are bells only, alarm receiving centre, and homeowner monitored alarms. These are all effective as deterrence methods, and which you choose will depend on your specific needs.

Does CCTV work in the dark?

Most cameras have a night mode to capture video in the dark. They use an infrared sensor to detect infrared light. These pictures are black and white, but still retain plenty of detail. Cameras are also able to see and record in adverse conditions such as fog, dust and smoke.
