Biggleswade
Biggleswade is a market town and civil parish positioned on the River Ivel within the English county of Bedfordshire. It is roughly 40 miles north of Central London and twenty miles from Cambridge. Settlements in close proximity to Biggleswade are considered to have existed from about 10000 BC, which is supported by archaeological proof, such as ancient arrowheads that have been discovered in the town. As recorded in the 2011 Census, the town had a permanent population of around 16,550. Due to successful transport links, being located along the A1 road between London and the North, in addition as possessing a railway station around the major rail link North from London, the population has increased by almost ten percent during the last 10 years. This increase is expected to carry on because of to new housing developments. Historically, Biggleswade was a vegetable growing region with much of the produce being transported to marketplaces in London, like Covent Garden. Although a great deal of this trade has closed, Bedfordshire Growers, positioned on the outskirts of the town, still supply United Kingdom supermarkets in the United Kingdom with potatoes and onions grown in Biggleswade. Biggleswade is also home to the headquarters for Jordan's cereals, a business that manufactures several varieties of muesli and granola.
