Dunmow
Great Dunmow is a historical market community and civil parish in the Uttlesford district of Essex, England. It is positioned on the north of the A120 road, about midway in between Bishop's Stortford and Braintree, 6 miles east of London Stansted Airport. Initially the site of a Roman settlement on Stane Street, the town prospered throughout the Middle Ages. Numerous structures survive from this duration, including a sixteenth-century city center. Dunmow indicates "Meadow on the Hill". [4] The negotiation was variously referred to as Dunmow Magna, Much Dunmow, or the majority of frequently Great Dunmow. Great Dunmow borders the former estate of Easton Lodge in the neighbouring parish of Little Easton, a country house coming from the Maynard household. The most remarkable member, Frances Maynard, became the Countess of Warwick and later on a girlfriend of King Edward VII. As the Prince of Wales he was supposedly a routine visitor to the Estate, travelling from London on the train to Easton Lodge railway station. The initials "CW" are visible on a number of Victorian period homes in Great Dunmow. Referred To As Daisy Greville, Countess of Warwick she was a charitable philanthropist in the local area. As of 2018, Robert Nicholson is Emeritus Mayor of Great Dunmow.
