Saxmundham
Saxmundham is a small market community in Suffolk, England, set in the valley of the River Fromus about 18 miles (29 km) north-east of Ipswich and also 5 miles (8.0 kilometres) west of the coast at Sizewell. The town is bypassed by the A12. It is served by Saxmundham train station on the East Suffolk Line. Saxmundham Town Council comes under the new East Suffolk District. It was formerly in Suffolk Coastal District. The district electoral ward also has the name Saxmundham. Its population at the 2011 census was 4,913. The community's name apparently originates from the Old English "Seizmond's Home". The earliest recorded reference of Saxmundham is in the Domesday Book of 1086 which discusses 3 churches. It has had a market charter since a minimum of 1272 and also carries on the tradition to now.
