Aylesford
Aylesford is a town as well as civil parish on the River Medway in Kent, 4 miles NW of Maidstone in England. Initially a little waterfront settlement, the old town comprises around 60 houses, many of which were previously stores. 2 pubs, a village shop and various other amenities including a stylist, estate agent, two dining establishments, a chiropodist as well as a coffee shop are located on the high street. Aylesford's present population is about 5,000. The Parish of Aylesford covers greater than seven square miles, extending north to Rochester Airport estate and southern to Barming, as well as has a total population of over 10,000 (since 2011), with the main settlements at Aylesford, Eccles, Blue Bell Hillside Town and (part of) Walderslade. Aylesford Newsprint was a long-standing major company in the location as well as was the largest paper recycling factory in Europe, making newspaper for the newspaper sector. In 2015, Aylesford Paper Mill, as it was known by local citizens, was folded and removed of all its possessions. Numerous local households who had actually been used there, occasionally for a number of generations, were affected.
