With the increase in gas and electricity rates, strengthening household energy efficiency has grown to become ever more important. And are you aware your boiler makes up about around 60% of your annual energy expenses?

This means that if it's inefficient, as a huge number of central heating boilers are in the UK, you'll be wasting hundreds of pounds each and every year. Inefficient central heating boilers could work at just 70%, whereas a replacement ECO boiler would run at close to 95%.

And with the ECO central heating boiler scheme you'll benefit from a cost-free replacement combi boiler. The scheme is aimed at the country's most at risk households, so you need to meet specific criteria.

Do you need an ECO boiler in Bakewell? With a brand new boiler you'll instantly cut your energy bills and then make certain your home's warmer all through the year.

If you would like an ECO boiler, complete our quick form to find out whether you're qualified for a free of charge replacement in Bakewell. Even if you don't meet the requirements it's still recommended to replace your outdated central heating boiler system.

Bakewell

Bakewell is a little market town and also civil parish in the Derbyshire Dales area of Derbyshire, England, understood for a regional confection, Bakewell pudding. It rests on the River Wye, regarding 13 miles (21 kilometres) south-west of Sheffield. In the 2011 census the civil parish of Bakewell had a population of 3,949. The community is close to the tourist destinations of Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall. Although there is evidence of earlier settlements in the location, Bakewell itself was possibly founded in Anglo Saxon times, when Bakewell remained in the Anglian kingdom of Mercia. The name Bakewell indicates a spring or stream of a male named Badeca (or Beadeca) as well as derives from this personal name plus the Old English wella. In 949 it was Badecanwelle and also in the 11th century Domesday Book it was Badequelle. Bakewell Church Church, a Grade I noted structure, was founded in 920 and has a 9th-century cross in the churchyard. Today church was built in the 12th-- 13th centuries yet was essentially rebuilt in the 1840s by William Flockton. By Norman times Bakewell had obtained some significance: the town and its church (having 2 priests) are mentioned in the Domesday Book and a motte and also bailey castle was built in the 12th century. In the very early 14th-century, the vicar was terrorised by the Coterel gang, that evicted him and seized the church's cash at the instigation of the canons of Lichfield Cathedral. A market was established in 1254 and Bakewell created as a trading centre. The Grade I-listed five-arched bridge over the River Wye was created in the 13th century as well as is just one of minority surviving remnants of that period. Another Grade I-listed bridge, Holme Bridge, was constructed in 1664 and crosses the Wye on the north-eastern outskirts of the town. A chalybeate springtime was found as well as a bath house constructed in 1697. This resulted in an 18th-century quote to develop Bakewell as a health facility community in the manner of Buxton. Construction of Lumford Mill by Richard Arkwright in 1777 was complied with by the restoring of much of the community in the 19th century.

    FAQs

how long does a gas boiler last?

When it comes to gas boilers, this is one of the most frequent questions that always pops up and for a good reason. When you invest a considerable amount of money to acquire and install a gas boiler in your home or property, it’s only reasonable not only to expect the boiler to warm up your home efficiently, but also to do so for a long period of time. If you’ve just bought or about to get a new gas boiler, it’s likely you won’t have to worry about getting a replacement for a lengthy period of time. Several gas boilers will last for anywhere between 10 to 15 years on the average. However in the event whereby you have an existing one that’s fast approaching the end of it’s useful life, then you should know the time go get a new gas boiler is just around the corner, and the earlier you make the purchase, the better (to avoid any surprise breakdowns that’ll leave your home super uncomfortable).

Just like any other home appliance, it’s a fact that an older gas boiler ( especially those that have been installed over a decade ago) are significantly less efficient that the new modern ones. When the older versions were manufactured is a completely different time to now as both technology and climate concerns are wide apart. So when your existing boiler is approaching the end of it’s useful life, it’ll be wise to start saving up to cover the cost of getting a new one. However, if it’s only about 5 years ago your boiler was installed, it’s highly likely to still be very efficient.

do i need a new boiler?

Ad hoc visits from your engineer to fix small issues with your heating system may actually seem cheaper and a lot more affordable, however when a boiler is ripe enough for a change these small issues are always never ending. Over some period of time, these small issues will inevitably get worse and the idea of “mend and make do will be an absolutely false economy. The best course of action in this sort of event is to find a replacement boiler to install as soon as possible. In this article, we’re going to give you some hints that’ll show you when your boiler needs to be replaced. Now let’s take a look!

✓ Insufficient hot water. Here, you’ll have to check the size of your hot water cylinder. It’s crucial to make sure that your boiler is rightly sized to power your heating as well as hot water circuit in line with your demands. You should always seek the advice of a heating expert who can recommend whether to fix or replace the boiler.

✓ Strange noises. It’s normal for components of the boiler to become worn or damaged over time. Replacing the particular component that’s causing the knocking or rattling may seem cost effective at first but more often than not, the noises usually signal a bigger issue which is likely to build up over time. Hence, it’ll be a lot more logical to replace the boiler itself.

✓ Regular repair of your boiler. It’s essential to have your heating system serviced by a Gas Safe engineer on an annual basis. However, when you have to call them more often than once a year for your yearly maintenance, it may be a wise decision to consider getting a replacement.

✓ Other events whereby you may need a new boiler includes when you can’t get the right temperature in your room, when the radiators don’t heat up as they should, when your boiler leaks and if your boiler still has a pilot light.

    How do I re-pressurise a boiler?

Re-pressurising your boiler means that you allow more water to enter system via the filling loop. It can be easy to re-pressurise your boiler yourself. Always check your manual, but there are some simple steps you can take to restore pressure to your boiler:

    • Switch off your boiler and let it cool completely

    • Make sure both ends of your filling loop are attached

    • Open both valves to allow cold water into the system – you’ll hear it start to move

    • Look out for your pressure gauge to show 1.5 bar

    • Close both valves

    • Switch your boiler back on

    • Undo both ends of your filling loop and remove it. Remember some water might come out, so be ready to catch some spillage!

How long does a boiler last?

If you get the right size boiler for your home and you get it serviced regularly, your boiler could last up to 15 years. It may even last longer than this, but you’ll find that your boiler begins to become less efficient as it gets older. Also, as technology improves, a boiler older than 15 years may not be the most efficient one on the market.
