One of the leading benefits with a garage conversion is that the space can be converted quickly for the additional room you will need, regardless of whether it's for a growing family or simply just to add to the value of your home.
A garage conversion suggests you won't need to relocate for more space, which may save you thousands of pounds on solicitor charges, estate agent payments and stamp duty. And the extra room could be transformed into whatever you need, whether it's an extension to the living area or kitchen, or even a separate room entirely.
With the structure already in position it's clear that a garage conversion will probably be less costly than constructing an extension as well, and won't consume important space within your garden. With the outside unlikely to change as well, it's a good way to get around rules for conservation areas and listed buildings.
Should you be interested in transforming your garage, look at quotes from companies in Maldon using our quick service to receive the best offer available.

Maldon is a town on the Blackwater Estuary in the English county of Essex. It constitutes the seat of the Maldon District and the start of the Chelmer and Blackwater Navigation. In accordance with the 2011 Census, it has a population of around 14220. Evidence shows that East Saxons made their first settlement in the area throughout the 5th century and it soon transformed into a key Saxon port with a hythe or quayside and artisan quarters. Archaeological evidence has indicated the success of the port, uncovering items such as imported pottery, and it is thought that from 958, there was the establishment of a royal mint issuing coins for the late Anglo-Saxon and early Norman kings. It was among the first two towns in Essex, with the second being Colchester. In accordance with the Domesday Book of 1086, there were 54 households and 180 townsmen. The town is most renowned for Maldon Sea Salt, which has been produced by the Maldon Crystal Salt Company ever since 1882. Throughout the course of the year, the town hosts a variety of events and activities. Of particular note is the annual 'Taxi Day', which consists of kids with special educational needs from London being driven to Maldon in London Black Cabs in order to take part in a fun day of activities followed by a meal. The event was established in 1952 when a London cab driver visited the Elizabeth Fry Special School in Plaistow and wanted to do something unforgettable for the kids there. The town additionally hosts the Maldon mud race, which entails racing across the Blackwater Estuary at low tide, in order to raise money for several charities. For all your home upgrades, make sure to make use of credible contractors in Maldon to make certain of quality.

Are you looking to create some more space in your home with your garage being almost dispensable? If yes, then considering a garage conversion project may be the way to go. Unlike many other extension options, garage conversion does not take up an additional space as it only changes the current structure of the garage. As a result, the cost of completing a garage conversion project can be relatively attractive when compared to other space creating alternatives. So exactly how much would a garage conversion project cost? Well, there’s no precise answer for this as several influencing factors come to play. However, in this guide we’ll give you a rough idea of the average costs that you’re likely going to encounter. Some of the factors that can influence your budget dramatically includes the following:
• The size of the conversion. The larger the size of the garage per square feet, the more cost you’ll have to expend.
• The type of your property - listed buildings are usually more expensive.
• Your location in the UK. If you stay in London where there’s a higher demand, you’ll most likely pay more.
• You’re likely to pay more if a specialist knowledge is required.
• The amount of glazing to be installed
• Quality of the materials to be incorporated.
• Quality of the professional to carry out the installation service.
On average, when it comes to garage conversion projects, you’re likely to pay the following depending on the per square metre given:
• A single garage of about 15 square metre will cost within the range of £6,000 to £15,000.
• A double garage of about 30 square metre will cost within the range of £12,000 to £30,000.
Are you considering converting your garage into a more usable space in your home? If yes, then you’d probably want to know if you’ll require building regs before converting the garage. The answer to this question is yes. Although you may not require planning approval to convert your garage into a more usable space, but you’d usually need approval under the Building Regulations.
When re-structuring your garage into a habitable space, the following should be taken into consideration: structural alterations, ventilation, moisture proofing, insulation, fireproofing, escape routes as well as the submission of a building building notice or full plan application to the local council in order to inform them about the planned project.
• Walls
You’ll require an approval if you plan to infill the garage door with a window and a new wall. This is because the garage may have been built of a shallow slab which implies that a new foundation would be needed for the new wall construction.
• Floor
Even though there’s a high possibility that the garage floor is strong enough for domestic use since its designed to withstand the weight of vehicles, you may however need to upgrade to make sure it suitable for both thermal insulation and damp proofing. In addition, there may also be the need to to alter the floor level in such a way that it matches that of the remaining parts of the house.
• Ventilation
According to the Building Regulations requirements, there’s a need for adequate ventilation for each individual rooms which includes garage conversions for general health purposes. What’s going to determine the ventilation level that’ll be required is the frequency at which the room is used. Ventilation can be provided through purge or simply opening the window or via trickle ventilation.
What is your garage being used for? If your answer is anything besides your vehicle, you’re in the majority in the UK. In the country, according to a research by Admiralty Loans, several home and property owners now use their garage as dumping ground for all sorts of stuffs asides a car. Ultimately, this gives rise to garage conversions as the more or less underutilized space can be converted into a living space which can be more beneficial while also adding more value to the property.
A garage conversion is a fast and relatively affordable route to adding more floor space within your home. It’s basically the act of changing your garage into something other than a storage or a place in which you can park your car. This can be anything from a bedroom to a playroom and anything in between. It’s a great way to provide extra space to allow your family to spread out and have more privacy while still within the walls of your home.
A garage conversion project is a huge one which mostly does not require a planning application so far the conversion is internal. However if you’re planning to increase the garage’s size or change the exterior of your home, or convert your garage into a separate room, then you may require a planning permission before getting started. It’s always wise to consult your local authority before carrying out any work to be on the safer side.
A project of garage conversion’s magnitude is better left to a reliable professional who have the experience when it comes to dealing with building regulations and more. This way, you’d also get to save yourself some headaches and some extra cash which may result from possible costly errors.
It shouldn’t do. Most companies will do all the interior work first, and the last job to do will be creating the opening from the house to the conversion. A reputable company will make sure they cause as little disruption as possible during this time.
